Privacy Notice
Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the site, send the newsletter you asked for, and measure which recommendations are useful. We never sell or share your data.
What we collect
- Newsletter: your email address, the time you subscribed, and which page the signup form was on. That is the whole record — no name, no birthday, no profiling data.
- Accounts (only if you register): name, email, plan status. Registration is never required to use the free tools or to subscribe.
- Affiliate clicks: when you click a partner link we log the link key, the page it came from, an anonymous visitor id (cookie), a timestamp, and — if you are signed in — your user id. This is how we know which recommendations are useful. See the affiliate disclosure.
- Site analytics: page views, tool starts/completions and shares, tied to the same anonymous visitor id. No IP addresses are stored in our analytics tables.
Email tracker data
- The public email-tracking guides do not display customer project data. If a project owner uses the restricted tracker workspace, the system may record pixel requests, link requests, verified provider events, hosted-document viewer events, and first-party website events for that owner's project.
- Tracker event tables do not store raw IP addresses or raw user-agent strings. Some email-tracking events may include a coarse country or client/device category; this is not a precise location or a person identity. The website snippet removes query strings from stored page paths and supports an opt-in consent-management hook.
- Each project has a configurable retention period. Project owners can review an inventory, delete engagement data, or delete their tracking account data. A project owner's review confirmation is not recipient consent; the owner remains responsible for notices and legal basis applicable to their use.
- Provider delivery data is available only when a provider is configured and sends verified events. No provider, GA4, Search Console, or mailbox data is invented when an integration is absent.
Why, and for how long
- We email you only what you subscribed to: occasional, dated notes on tool comparisons and marketing tactics. No purchased lists, no third-party mailings.
- Unsubscribed addresses are kept as a suppression record so we do not email you again by accident.
- Click and analytics records are kept to measure the site; they contain no email addresses unless you are signed in.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time: every newsletter email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Using the tools never subscribes you to anything — signup only happens through the form, with your explicit consent.
- Cookies: the visitor-id cookie is anonymous and used for analytics only; you can block or delete it in your browser without losing access to any tool.
- Deletion requests: contact us via the about page and we will remove your records.
Who runs this site
Marketing Guy is an independent research and tools site funded by affiliate commissions. Data is stored on our own server database and, if the owner connects one, a transactional email provider (Resend or SMTP) used solely to send verification and newsletter emails. We do not use advertising networks or data brokers.
